Aztec Chamber of Commerce

State of the City

February 24, 2017

The Chamber had their first Business Luncheon at the HUB, the new business incubator, a partnership with the Aztec Chamber of Commerce, the City of Aztec and San Juan College Business Enterprise. Members and nonmembers were there to hear City Manager Joshua Ray report on accomplishments in 2016 and what to expect for 2017.

Construction projects in the city include the completion of Phase 1 of the Arterial Route and the Fueling Station for the Aztec Airport. Great improvements have been made to the Airport with the intent of increasing our pilot traffic and have them stay and enjoy our fair town. Mr. Ray went on to report that the Sewer Outfall Line is currently in progress along with the Animas River Diversion Project. Mr. Ray was excited to report that the North Main Construction of Phase is scheduled to begin in March of 2017. Also complete was the 1 Mega Watt Solar Field.

What’s to come in 2017?

Mr. Ray reported on the new business incubator, the HUB. The Chamber is excited to report an increase of traffic with new and existing businesses coming in to become chamber members now that the HUB is open, offering meeting rooms, workshops, conference room facilities, and think tank work stations. All Chamber members receive a 50% discount on the use of services and membership at the HUB. Come by and tour the facility.

Along with moving forward with our airport and making this an exciting place to visit, the city will be seeing the reconstruction of the Airport Tarmac which is scheduled to begin in March.

Thank you Chamber member Dominos for the great lunch! Make sure you stop in at Dominos and take advantage of the dining area, a great place to dine, for family gatherings, watch a little TV, or a superb place to relax with great food!
