Celebrates Independent Films

Durango Independent Film Festival invites filmgoers to help celebrate independent film and connect with visiting filmmakers at its 12th Annual Festival, March 1 – 5, 2017. The Durango Independent Film Festival kicks off its 12th annual Festival with Free Movie Night sponsored by DGO at the Gaslight Theatre in downtown Durango on March 1. Four free film programs will screen at 6pm and 8:30pm. Screenings are first come, first served and are free to the public so come early. This year the festival features 115 films of all genres at three different festival venues; the Animas City Theatre, Gaslight Twin Theatres and the Durango Stadium 9 Theatre. This year’s films span the globe featuring films from 28 countries, including two from Pakistan.

Our special guest this year is Jim Belushi and his band The Sacred Hearts will be in concert on Saturday, March 4, at the Community Concert Hall in a separate ticketed event. Tickets are available at durangoconcerts.com. A retrospective screening of About Last Night in which Jim Belushi stars will be screening on Saturday, March 4th at 11:30am at the Animas City Theatre, followed by an interview of Jim Belushi by his According to Jim costar, John Rubano.

Our Meet the Filmmakers Party, Friday from 5-8pm in the Underground at The Irish Embassy Pub, is free and open to the public. Panels on Saturday and Sunday are free to the public and are being held at Four Leaves Winery. Passes are available in a variety of price points and can be purchased at the Ticket Office inside The Durango Welcome Center or online at durangofilm.org. Individual tickets are available at each screening 15 minutes before show time and are $12 each. All festival screenings at the Durango Stadium 9 can be purchased at the theatre and are 2 for $20 or $12 per individual ticket.
