Robert Edward Oxford, 80, of Aztec, passed away Thursday, Feb. 3, 2017, in Farmington. He was born Dec. 23, 1936, in Pittsburgh, Kan.

Bob was born in Pittsburgh, Kan. and attended school there until 1956. He and his first wife moved to Lawrence, Kan. where he attended Kansas University, and worked for the Kansas Highway Department, and earned a professional Engineering License in 1966.

In 1966 he went to work for Stearns-Rogers of Denver, Colo. and traveled all over the southwest, building power plants, paper mills, copper mines, etc. He moved to Bloomfield in 1978 and helped build units 3 and 4 for Public Service Company of New Mexico. He obtained a Professional Engineers License in New Mexico and Colorado in the early 1980’s. He also obtained a professional surveyors license in New Mexico. He formed Oxford Engineering in the 1980’s and surveyed the construction of most roads, for contractors, leading in and out of San Juan County. In 1987 he went to work for the Office of the State Engineer and ran the local office in Aztec until 2000. He semi-retired but ran BJ Resources, a water right consulting firm until 2013. He enjoyed playing golf and betting on the horse races. He was a life member of the Elks Club.

Bob requested there be no memorial service for him.

Bob is survived by his current wife, Bette; three children, Curtis (Tammy), Karen (John) Schiff, and Steve Oxford. He has six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
