Aztec Heroes

February 3, 2017

“If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader.” - Quincy Adams.

The definition of a hero is a person who is admired or idealized for courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities. Heroes have many wonderful qualities. The Aztec Community knows that the heroes the Chamber seeks are so low-key and humble, they do not even imagine that the title of hero is one they would wear. That is why we need your help.

Educator of the Year, Citizen of the Year, and Business of the Year: Teachers, indeed, possess a great power to influence, and as studies show, they can clearly shape America’s future. They can impact how much students will ultimately earn, or prepare the next great mind to change the world. Citizens, those who work long and selfless hours for others surely don’t seek to make a name for themselves as heroes. What of businesses? We know that our economy and families have been impacted by the decline of the oil and gas/energy industry. Companies are struggling and doing everything in their power to keep their doors open and provide for their employees and their families and subsequently, provide for those living in the community.

Of the many heroes that work and live in Aztec, who is your hero? Whom have you been rooting for? Who places others before him or herself? The time has come to help them shine, to be recognized for reaching out to your child at school, for the time spent working in the neighborhood helping a senior citizen with their day-to-day, or the business that commits their time and resources to the community to a service project.

Go to aztechamber.com and download the nomination form beginning February 1 and vote for your 2017 Educator of the Year, Citizen of the Year and Business of the Year. All nominees will receive a complimentary ticket to the event and the Heroes in each category will be announced at the banquet. Help make a difference in someone’s life by paying it forward and nominating someone who has done the same.
