The College Foundation will pay tribute to three who have contributed to excellence over its history.

On Thursday, March 15, at 7 p.m., in the Little Theatre, the San Juan College Hall of Fame will recognize the achievements of Nisa Bruce, Traci HalesVass, and Garry Smothers.

Nisa Bruce began her career in 1993 at San Juan College as a Nursing Instructor. During her 24-year tenure, she advanced from an instructor to the Director of the Department of Nursing. She was instrumental in helping bring the University of New Mexico nursing partnership and statewide nursing curriculum to San Juan College.

Traci HalesVass taught writing at San Juan College for 12 years. She inspired students as a writing professor, and created One Book, One Community, a program that continues today as an important college and community event.

Garry Smothers began his career at San Juan College at the Physical Plant in 2000. He spent 16 years proudly representing the Physical Plant, supervising the day-to-day operations. He was the ultimate ambassador of San Juan College, representing its values, goals and objectives on campus, in the community and at the state level.

The Hall of Fame evening will include a reception and presentation of awards to honorees. The event is open to the public.
